A CLINICAL ANALYSIS IN 500 PATIENTS OF MICROREPLANTATION OF HAND AND DIGITS

Abstract
This retrospective study presents the clinical results of 500 patients who wer~ planted microsurgically at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Natio- Medical Center, from April 1981 to October 1987.
The 500 patients were analysed in several factors according to the period -ich was divided arbitrarily in anterior and posterior half. The point of division in period ,-. ¢¥anuary 1985 when microreplantation had become popularized in many other hospita? Korea. The anterior half was ranged from April 1981 to January 1985 in 250 patie- s- ¡¾nd the posterior half was ranged from January 1985 to October 1987 in 250 patients.
The difference between anterior and posterior half period and clinical results were as follows.
1) Success rate;
a. anterior half: 83.7 %
b. posterior half: 79.7 %
2) Digit distribution;
a. index was the most commonly affected digit, then middle, ring, thum little finger was followed at both anterior and posterior half.
b. success rate was good in replantation of little, middle and index fmg_ at both anterior and posterior half.
3) Vascular zone distribution,
a. most patients were injured at zone III level.
b. success rate was high in replantation of zone IV injury at both anterior posterior half.
